Alstar Limited is a women-owned Kenyan tea company delivering high-quality orthodox, purple and white teas from partner KTDA factories — through direct, traceable, relationship-driven trade.
Alstar Limited is a women-owned Kenyan tea company committed to elevating the standard of sustainably sourced teas while building a more inclusive and resilient tea industry. Since 2008, we have worked closely with smallholder farmers to strengthen livelihoods and create meaningful economic opportunities for women, men, and youth across the entire tea value chain.
In a sector where benefits and decision-making have historically been uneven, Alstar is reshaping participation by ensuring every stakeholder has fair access to skills development, resources, and market opportunities. Our direct relationships with partner factories and farming communities support responsible farming practices, transparent and traceable sourcing, and impactful social and environmental outcomes at origin.
When you work with us, you are not just purchasing tea — you become part of a sourcing model that strengthens a sustainable ecosystem that uplifts farmers, protects the environment, and preserves the heritage of Kenyan tea.
Through our direct-trade relationships, you support fair engagement with growers and an environmentally responsible sourcing approach that ensures long-term sustainability in the tea value chain.
By choosing us, you contribute to a future where tea is produced with respect for people, land and long-term market viability — a supply chain built on integrity, resilience, and shared value.
Alstar serves as a strategic off-taker of orthodox and specialty teas from its partner KTDA factories, providing direct market linkages to buyers — particularly in Europe and other destinations. By complementing the traditional auction system with a relationship-driven direct trade model, Alstar enables strong factory partnerships, transparency and access to markets that value traceability, origin integrity, and consistent quality.
Through this direct-linkage model, Alstar delivers high-quality Kenyan orthodox teas — whether specialty or bulk — to buyers seeking reliability, traceability, and a deeper connection to origin.
Since inception, Alstar has advanced gender fairness and inclusion within tea-growing communities. Our programs equip women, men and youth with financial literacy and tools for economic independence, support farmers in enhancing household food production, and promote practical knowledge on sustainable farming and income-generating opportunities.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to easing the financial burden carried by smallholder tea farmers. We partner with organizations and responsible tea buyers who believe, as we do, that a fair tea industry is built on shared responsibility — ensuring responsible sourcing delivers real benefits at origin.
One example is our partnership with Ahmad Tea. Together with Ruby Cup, Alstar is implementing a Menstrual Hygiene Project distributing menstrual cups and providing education to women and girls in Kenya's tea gardens — strengthening the well-being and economic resilience of women within the tea value chain, and enabling buyers to source responsibly while contributing to tangible social impact at origin. Purple Tea is a rare, premium variety grown exclusively in Kenya, distinguished by its natural purple-reddish leaf colour from anthocyanins — the same antioxidant compounds found in berries and grapes. It brews a smooth, full-bodied cup with a delicate golden liquor that turns soft purple when lemon is added. Grown under strict Kenyan agricultural practices, it is recognised for purity and production free of pesticide residues.
